WOW-Excellent TV-Great Price-No Problem with Ordering January 6, 2009 This has been not only the best experience I've had purchasing over the internet, but the best experience purchasing any item period. This product is clearer than clear if that is possible. We both were amazed at the quality of this item, especially because it was such a great deal on Amazon. I have been trying to find a nice flat screen tv for some time now, and when I narrowed it down to a plasma, I then checked out consumer reports magazine for the best deal and quality. This was it, and everything that was said in the magazine was true. In fact, I think it was under-rated. If I could afford it, I'd purchase one of these tv's for every room in my home. Do not hesitate to purchase this tv if you are at all on the fence. You'll be happy you jumped.
Buy it without fear or regret! December 28, 2008 Great Price vs. Quality I would buy this TV again and I already recommended it to others. The first thing I watched was a rebroadcast the Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony in 1080i. WOW! I purchased this TV after a lot of research and I'm not disappointed. Let's go through the basics:
- Setup: Easy. Required 8 screws for the base which is solid and stable, but does not swivel. Then just plug in the connectors and power on. Remember, that you need to buy cables separately. Unused inputs can be "skipped" for quick switching between your devices.
- Picture: Crisp, clear and bright. Presets needed some tweaking, but that's just preference. No pixilation or blur because it's plasma, even with fast motion! Standard definition TV doesn't look as good as your CRT TV (this is the norm for plasma/LCD TVs), so if you only have a few HD channels, wait until your cable company gets more. No PIP.
- Sound: Full, but don't expect it to replace your surround sound system. The digital optical output doesn't adjust with the volume button. Not sure if this is how all digital optical works, or just this TV. Means you have to adjust your surround sound system with a separate remote. Also, no automatic closed caption when muted.
- Remote: Functional, intuitive, basic. Good size, large printing and buttons. 1-button adjustments between 4:3 & 16:9, Zoom, Panel and Full. Not programmable for controlling multiple devices.
Beautiful TV December 17, 2008 Great TV. Beautiful color. Perfect addition to our home theater. Would recommend it to anyone.
Good TV decent service by amazon December 11, 2008 I had ordered the TV over thanksgiving early morning on Black Friday. I got the TV for an excellent price on an average $200 less than current prices. The first TV that came in had a cracked glass screen. So I called up amazon to return it. They said they would issue a refund as they did not have this in stock anymore. I kept looking everyday for the TV on amazon. Luckily they had 1 unit left on the fourth day I was looking. I called up Amazon immideately and ordered the replacement. They promptly put the replacement order and sent it to me. The shipping company made an error in shipping (they got confused between the return shipment and the new shipment) and so I received the TV a couple days later. However yesterday was the first time we turned it on and the set up was a breeze. I did not have to do anything. Just set the channel and I was set to go. The picture looks nice and clear and crisp. I will post another review for the TV after I have had it for a few days. I would like more brightness and contrast. However I will increase the brightness and contrast some more (currently set to 50, that is the default setting) after a month or so. I have heard and read at several places that it is best to keep the contrast and brightness low for the first 100 hours of usage for a plasma TV
