5 out of 5 stars excellent product   January 6, 2009
We live about 16 miles from broadcast antennas, and can receive all local stations with crystal clarity. Works for us!

3 out of 5 stars It was pretty good a few years ago...   December 16, 2008
The Terk Low-Profile Indoor Antenna (TV5) was a good antenna for me when I first got it a few years ago, the best of many indoor antennas that I tested at that time. When I first got the Terk TV5 I lived in a city where all the towers were around 30 miles away from me. Currently I live around 60 miles away from the majority of towers. With the Terk TV5 I can get most of the channels but the over the air digital channels can be a little spotty at times, it is lacking a bit in signal strength and range. The Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antenna for Off-Air HDTV Reception worked a bit better than the Terk TV5 with a little bit of an increase in range. With supplies I already had, including the 75 to 300-Ohm Matching Transformer from my Terk TV5, I made my own antenna based similarly to the Antennas Direct DB4 Multi Directional HDTV Antenna, and it works better than any of the antennas I've tried and practically cost me nothing, although it is pretty ugly. If you live pretty close to the towers the Terk TV5 works pretty well, if you live a little further away you might want to try the Terk HDTVa or similar newer products, or you might just want to give it a try and build your own.

4 out of 5 stars It worked great for me!   November 22, 2008
I did a lot of research on many antennas before deciding on the Terk TV5. The only other one I considered was the Winegard SS3000 which costs about double that of the Terk. I figured if the Terk didn't work good I could always return it and get the Winegard instead. I'd give it a 4 rating, since I wasn't able to compare it in actual operation with the Winegard (so it might actually be a 5 without me knowing it). I get about 18 channels (most all digital)with a very good to great picture on my fairly new LCD HDTV. I got 16 channels very good without even turning up the gain control. I only have to rotate it once about two inches for my only difficult channel, otherwise I don't have to move it at all for the best picture. "Ghosting" is less than about 5 percent on the worst channels. "Pixelation" occurs rarely, usually during the daytime hours, only on my worst channel (the same one I have to rotate for). I don't have any cable or satellite service at all which is why I needed this antenna.

4 out of 5 stars Great antenna!   November 17, 2008
THis works great with the new digital TV converter box- we tried the new zenith converter from RS but it didn't work so we got the other RS one and then the antenna came at the same time so we hooked them up and were ready to go- we hadn't had any good tv in quite some time and now it is like we have basic cable! I am not sure if it is better than the other plug in antenna we had but this one works great!

3 out of 5 stars The Dream was bigger than the reality   November 12, 2008
I thought from the other reviews I read that this antenna would be more powerful. I guess I expected more than it could deliver. I think that you need to fuss with it far too much, and it works no better than my last antenna. I am disappointed but maybe the dream was larger than the reality.
