True Quality ~ At a price March 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Wow...That is the first thing I said to myself as I unpacked this bad boy. Thestyle, and look of this Plasma is beautiful. Not to mention the picture is top notch. Although I have not had it professionally calibrated (Which I will have done) the "Pure" setting only needed some very minor tweaking and the picture was superb. I can only imagine what it will look like when calibrated. Which leads to one of the benefits of the TV, the ISF Day and Night settings for when it does get professionally calibrated. They are added to your picture options.
Blu-Ray movies through my PS3 with HDMI connections look tremendous. 2001: A space Odyssey look fantastic...Stark black space backgrounds, with the Bright white space ship floating through space...it almost looked 3d. Another very cool feature is the fact that through a network cable, I was able to connect to my PC and use it as a media server. I was able to retrieve pictures, music and videos from my PC and watch/play them on the TV. Very cool.
All in all, if you have the money, (And it isn't cheap) this is the BEST plasma I have seen, and flat panel for that matter. Top Notch.
BEST PICTURE PERIOD February 9, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I just got my PRO-110FD 3 weeks ago and am here to backup what you probably have already heard. This TV offers the best picture of any TV on the market today. I did 6mths of research and stopped by Best Buy 10+ times before I decided to take the plunge. To this day, I still get amazed at the HD picture from over the air channels and cannot wait to get a BD player. The black levels, detail, and color accuracy are second to none. I was originally hesitant about the high price tag, but am sold that Pioneer plasmas are the best. You get what you pay for with this TV. From the quality of materials, to design and connectivity, this plasma has it all. But the picture is absolutely amazing. If you want the best picture period, this is the tv for you.
Pioneer - pure performance January 21, 2008 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
I had a Pioneer last year that I returned because it was too expensive. Since then I bought down to Sammy 5084 but realized after 2 days that it wasn't the same as having a Pioneer. I splurged and spent twice as much to get this 110FD off of Ebay. In 2 days of testing I've realized how fanstastic a Pioneer truly is.
Note that I did recommend a friend that he buy a Panny 750U because he didn't want to spend more than 3K. I think Panasonic's done a tremendous job as well...but I would rate that 3.9 stars whereas I rate the Pioneer Elite at 5 stars.
I'm using this TV with Over the Air signals as well as through Dish HD. Superb performance from both and I love the independent memory for each HDMI connection. BTW: I was worried about the Buzz since I'd been getting that with the Sammy and 2 evaluaters on Amazon had each said they heard Buzz from their 110FD. I have to say, the buzz from my TV is minimal to none...to hear it I have to literally put my ear next to the TV. Phew!
If you want to learn more about which TV to pick...head over to AVSForum and learn from the folks there. I can't tell you how cultish the Pioneer followers are.
