42" LG LCD January 6, 2009 What a picture! This tv looks great in any light and from any angle. I've waited a long time to get an LCD and the wait was worth it. The only thing I would change is the design of the remote. It's not what I would call intuitive.
Almost perfect! January 2, 2009 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Pros - Beautiful images from all viewing angles Super convenient swivel stand Attractive housing - clean, modern lines Easy hook-up Strong, clear sound
Cons (reason for four star rating, instead of five) - Sound isn't regulated from HD to Standard modes (very loud level with standard; very soft in HD - be mindful when you channel surf!)
Overall, would definitely purchase again!
Surprisingly solid television January 1, 2009 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I selected this television from among some bigger name brands in the store because it seemed to have the sharpest picture, which surprised me. I looked at Sony, Samsung, etc, but I kept coming back to this one. The picture seemed so natural and vivid. I am not unhappy with my purchase. The picture is crisp, intelligent sensor works great, and I have no complaints at all. I love the size and clarity as well as the remote choices. The controls are intuitive and it is easy to set up and start. It's also one of the nicest looking televisions out there, in my opinion. It does swivel, 20 degrees, I think, and the sound is adequate also. This is my first LG purchase but it will not be the last.
About as close to great as you can get December 16, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We've had this TV for two weeks, and it is fantastic. Once I got the settings fixed up for our room, the HD picture is amazing. SD leaves a lot to be desired (BBC America looks like a full-screen YouTube Video), but from what I understand (and what I've seen) SD looks pretty crap on any HD TV. The HD Channels, our Upscaling DVD Player, and the XBOX 360 via Component cables all look phenomenal.
The sound is pretty good, if a bit quiet on many channels. But, there is an Audio Out that I've got running to our receiver. Even with just two speakers, the volume level is much better than the built in speakers.
The menu is very intuitive and the quick menu option is a great convenience. I'm a big fan of being able to label my inputs, or rather, I should say that my WIFE is a big fan!
Speaking of inputs, there are a TON of ports on the back of this monster. Three HDMI ports, component in, AV In, cable, pretty much anything you could need.
Another aspect of this Television that surprised me was how light it was. I'd say it weighs MAYBE 45 pounds. Made it very easy to set up, even if we did have to put the stand together first. Definitely the first time I've ever had to assemble a TV!
All in all, if this TV could miraculously display great looking SD channels, it would be the perfect display. As it stands though, it's a great television, and if you can find it, it can be an incredible deal. We got ours for $999, fully 300 dollars less than comparable televisions. Look around and you're sure to find something similar.
