Great TV January 2, 2009 My wife remodel the living room and it looked great except for that tube 32 inch-Zenith (love the tV, but too big) that took up the whole living room. So my wife gave me permission to buy an LCD. I started out wanting the biggest, so I bought a Panasonic Plasma 50" 1080P but it was too big for my living room and the picture did not appear all that clear. I paid $1499 for it. I was still unsatisfied so I returned it and bought this TV. This TV definitely is worth the hype, the pictures are so clear and the 120 hz is great for Football. It looks great in my living room.I had it for 2 weeks and could not be happier. You cannot go wrong with this TV.
Picture quality is amazing December 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For years I didn't understand the big deal regarding HD. I finally decided to get an HDTV in December. In 3 weeks time I had two 1080p LCDs without 120hz. The picture quality of those sets on HD were good but not worth shelling out $1K for a TV. And standard def was horrible. So after not being satisfied I decided to spend a little more since i figured I would be keeping this tv for 3-5 years. My choice was the Vizio 42" with 120hz and Samsung A500. Both had similar picture quality and the price was the same. Luckily I noticed that the A630 was on sale at circuit city for under $1K. I decided to give it a try. SD looks good. HD looks great. Blu ray looks breathtaking. I bought dark knight on blu ray and the scenes shot in HD (i.e. the first scene with the bank robbers) the buildings looks like your actually there. 120hz takes awhile to get used to because it takes the grainy look from film and makes the picture clear. Luckily you can adjust the 120hz to off, low, medium, high. The only problem I have is the PIP. While the split screen effect is a great feature you cant watch two digital signals. The PIP is angalog. I realize another tuner would be required for that function. But at least the PIP could handle DVD or PS3.

After a couple of months of research I finally made a decision and bought this TV. I was looking for the best technology for the money and for what I really need (not being an audiophile) this has impressed both my Wife and I tremendously.I was able to find it locally at national chain for $1099 on sale which was the lowest I had seen and I felt a good price given I purchased it before Xmas. I hooked up a Panasonic Blue Ray disk player,Panasonic DMP-BD35K 1080p Blu-ray Player and the picture quality floored me. It was easy to set up and tweak to get th epicture the way I liked it.
I chose this model over the 650 because of the matte finish of the screen which works well in my bright Family Room.
I think for the money, and after researching this thing for a while, you'd be hard pressed to find a better total package. My next purchase is a Home Theater system and I can't wait to see this package in action!

This tv has a "S" on the back. Which means the panel was made by Samsung and not made by some cheap Chinese company. You can expect to get a high quality product if you purchase it.
As for the tv itself, it's basically the same as the LN40A650, and looks like the 7,8,9 in the way the tv frame is shaped.

What a great product! The picture is crystal clear and the 120HZ does make a big difference. Even my old DVD player looks better. Great buy!
