Pricey but easily worth the cost of admission January 8, 2009 I won't go over every single feature on this product, as you probably well know them all by now. But I will, however, tell you what's so great about it in a nutshell.
The touch interface is superb. While it may seem overly fancy, the touch feature (which is surprisingly accurate) combined with the accelerometer (responds to being tilted and flipped) make for the simple control yet deep possibilities for software. I can't say enough about this.
This iPod is not really an iPod - it's a pocket computer. If you have a Mac, this thing is your new PDA. It syncs with Mail, iCal, iTunes, iPhoto, and more. I would imagine any updates to Mac software will have equivalent updates reflected in iTouch and iPhone. And for any software deficiencies it may have? Well, it's just software. It will continue to be tweaked and perfected.
As an iPod only, it is superb, but I'd say if you'll only use it for audio go with a cheaper model. CNET comments that the audio is just alright, but I pride myself on my discerning ear and I think the sound produced by the iPod is rich and and expressive.
With the app store, I find myself downloading a lot of free content. I get NYTimes, Bloomberg, and a local NPR station streaming to iTouch over WiFi all completely FREE OF CHARGE. If you can swing it, some of the programs that require purchase are great and the games are super fun (but they kill your battery!).
Overall, this is the coolest gadget I've ever owned. I had been considering the iPhone, but ultimately decided the similar feature set (iPhone only adds phone, camera, and bluetooth functionality) was not worth the additional $30/month to my cell phone bill. So, I decided to just carry two devices - a cell phone and my iPod. As with all Apple products, it works as advertised, has an intuitive interface, and is just plain fun. If you're on the fence about this item, rest assured, it's probably the best tech purchase you'll ever make.
iPod January 8, 2009 This product is insanely amazing! The fact you can get free games and free internet wherever there's wifi is amazing! a great tool and never bored with it. It can entertain me for hours I love iPod touch!
iPod touch 2G lives up to all the hype! January 8, 2009 I received this product as a Christmas gift from my husband and I totally LOVE IT!!It truly lives up to all the media hype and I am now an official iPod maniac :0 The setup if very easy and trouble free, unlike the crappy creative zen 30g vision m. iTunes library is very easy to use and seamlessly integrates w/the iPod touch, SOOO MUCH better than using creative or windows media player. One of my fav features is that it can be connected to a wireless network and can be used to download tunes directly to the iPod, to surf the web, use email, etc. Another cool feautre is the new internal speaker that allows you to listen w/out headphones/ear buds. It also has the Nike + sensor integration so you can use Nike + shoes and iPod touch 2G for your workouts - very cool! So naturally I had to go out and buy the Nike + Air Walk Miler shoes and even have a new Horizon T93 treadmill that has a built-in iPod dock w/speakers (still in box as just delivered and hubby hasn't had time to open/assemble yet, but look for my review once I get the treadmill up & running).
i-pod touch January 8, 2009 Bought as a gift and teen was very pleased with it . As advertised .
I love the I-pod touch! January 8, 2009 I'd been wanting the I-phone, but once I found out I couldn't get away from the AT&T additional $30 rip off fee every month, I happily bought the I-pod touch. It has everything a girl needs to keep less things in her purse. It's skinny but big enough to hold comfortably in your hand. I already had a nano for my music, etc. but this is nicer to view and use.
