Excellant price, shipping and condition January 9, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought a new Sony Bravia 46Z from Amazon on 12-30-08. Great price @ $1,549. Shipping and tax free. Same TV would of cost me $984.00 more including sales tax @ Best Buy. Was shipped out of Reno, NV on the 31st arrived in Milwaukee, WI on 1-5-09. The shipper CEVA had their white glove sub-contractor KDS Logistics call me on the 6th and arranged deliver on 1-7-09 between 8 and 10 a.m. They arrived at 9 and brought it in the house and unpacked it. TV in excellant conditon. Mounted it on wall next day so base did not have to be installed. Due to the cold weather(and potential condensation that may developed within the cabinet coming from cold to warm temperature) they warned to let TV get room temperature for 3 hours before we turn it on. Plugged in it, connected to antenna and set-up was a breeze after the 3 hours. What a beautfully picture. Who said this is not a GREAT country.
Wow... January 9, 2009 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
All I can say is wow..not the biggest television expert but if friends, neighbors or anyone else who drops by are anything to go by, well we can't believe what we're viewing. Truth is I was thinking Samsung LN-46A650 the whole time but at the 12th hour, decided on this one. Read a lot of reviews and net net, I'm sure the Sami is great too..What I can say is this one is beyond my greatest expectations. Just finished watching the Gators beat the Sooners in the BCS Championship game and with the 120Hz feature, felt like I was in the middle of the huddle..fyi, bought this one from the Amazon Warehouse and the transaction could not have been smoother.
Anyway, I gotta get back to the crew 'cause one of them is liable to take the set with them...lol
Good HDTV with an issue of screen ununiformity January 8, 2009 I bought the Sony KDL-46Z4100 HDTV from Circuit City before Christmas and the performance of the TV out of box was very impressive. The picture was sharp with good details and the sound was not bad either. I then changed the picture mode to "Standard" for watching TV programs and "Cinema" for blu-ray and DVD (all via HDMI connections) and the colors were more natural than the "Vivid" setting. Then I did some calibrations using the Avia DVD. It turned out that the factory setting for "Sharpness" was way too high so I changed that to minimum. There was also a problem with color accuracy (-5% green and -15% red), which seemed not easy to correct by adjusting "Saturation" and "Hue". The most disturbing thing was that when the TV was displaying some test patterns like half dark gray/half white screen, there was a visible area (about the size of a football) in the center that appeared slightly darker (like some dirt) than other areas of the screen. This suggested ununiformity problems with the screen. I'm still testing the TV by watching different disks and programs to see whether the ununiformity issue is tolerable. It is obvious on a white, static screen but nearly unnoticeable in moving scenes. I don't know if any other customers had experienced this.
Otherwise, I would give the TV five stars for its slim and elegant design, connectivity, picture quality and numerous adjustable features.
Good TV, good delivery, easy setup January 8, 2009 Reviews of the picture quality and the features of this TV can be found elsewhere, and if you are interested in ordering the KDL-46Z4100 from Amazon, you probably know that this model doesn't represent the latest state of the art (no LED lighting, local dimming, etc.), but it offers a reasonable picture quality and a good-looking, slim body for a reasonable price, at least if ordered on the internet. I can tell you that my internet order from Amazon went very well - I got the TV delivered to my house within just a few days, the box and the TV arrived in very good shape, the setup was very easy, and I haven't had any problems so far. I think it was a good decision to order the TV from Amazon, which saved me several 100 dollars compared to the best price at local stores.
Very Satisfied Customer January 7, 2009 Sony Bravia Z-Series KDL-46Z4100/B 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, Black
Good Price, on time delivery and very carefully packaged and handled.
Outstanding Picture (Sharp and Natural Color). Excellent sound and all the easily accessed features I could possibly use. Watching this TV is so pleasurable that I am tempted to become a "Couch Potato."
